The ferry is the usual way to travel from El Nido to Coron, with route comparisons allowing around 3½–5 hours at sea. The flight between El Nido and Busuanga takes about 40 minutes, but adds airport transfers and needs a date-specific fare comparison. Check the actual sailing or flight before fixing accommodation: transport on this route should not be assumed to operate every day.

El Nido to Coron: quick comparison
| Option | Duration | Price (PHP) | Departures | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Passenger ferry | Allow about 3½–5 hours; Atienza advertises 4 hours | Atienza advertises 2,600 each way; confirm service and final fare | Depends on operator and date | Town-to-town travel without airport transfers |
| Cebgo flight, ENI ↔ USU | About 40 minutes flying; add check-in and transfers | Check your date, baggage and final total | Check the current flight search | Reducing time at sea |
| Buhay Isla island expedition | 3 days / 2 nights or 4 days / 3 nights | 22,900 or 26,900 per person respectively for the published 2026–27 season | Selected dates in both directions | A multi-day island experience rather than a direct transfer |
The PHP 2,600 figure is Atienza’s advertised route fare, not a guarantee that its boat is operating on every date. Confirm the vessel and departure with the company before paying or arranging a connection.

El Nido to Coron by ferry
A ferry keeps the journey relatively straightforward: depart from the El Nido waterfront and arrive at Coron Port, rather than travelling through two airports. Check the precise terminal or meeting point printed on your voucher. A ticket office, hotel pickup and boarding pier can be separate places.
Montenegro Shipping Lines includes Coron–El Nido in its official route network and operates both fastcraft and RoRo vessels across the Philippines. Confirm which vessel and sailing are being sold for this particular crossing; the company’s wider network is not a timetable for your date.
Atienza’s advertised El Nido departure
Atienza’s El Nido–Coron page advertises MV November Cattleya at 12:30, arriving at 16:30, with a PHP 2,600 fare and a four-hour crossing. It describes the service as daily and asks passengers to be at the port at least two hours before departure.
Confirm that the vessel is operating before planning around those times. An advertised daily timetable does not guarantee a ticketable sailing, and a cancelled or withdrawn service can leave no equivalent boat that afternoon. Ask for confirmation of the travel date, vessel, boarding point and cancellation terms.
Keep the arrival evening flexible. Boarding, unloading and the transfer to your hotel add time beyond the sailing itself, so an afternoon island-hopping tour is a poor connection to build around.

Coron to El Nido by ferry
Search the reverse direction separately. A departure advertised from El Nido is not a Coron departure, and booking the wrong direction can mean arriving at the pier after the boat has left.
Atienza’s Coron–El Nido page advertises 07:00 from Coron and 11:00 into El Nido, also on MV November Cattleya, at PHP 2,600. Its advertised crossing is four hours, and the page again specifies arrival at the port at least two hours before departure. Confirm operation for the intended date rather than treating the published daily schedule as assured.
Montenegro’s official network also includes this route. Check the return sailing directly with the operator or ticket seller; do not copy a forward timetable or assume the same fare and availability in both directions.
If continuing by road toward Puerto Princesa, allow time to disembark, collect luggage and reach the onward boarding point. A ferry arrival and a bus departure at the same time do not form a workable connection.

Flights between El Nido and Coron (Busuanga)
The airports are El Nido’s Lio Airport (ENI) and Francisco B. Reyes Airport, Busuanga (USU). The short air hop is about 40 minutes, but the hotel-to-hotel journey also includes check-in, luggage collection and road transfers.
The operator is Cebgo. Cebu Pacific’s transition notice confirms that former AirSWIFT flights moved to Cebgo from July 1, 2026, replacing the T6 flight code with DG; the affected El Nido routes include Coron. Book through Cebu Pacific and check the flight number and direction.
Compare the final fare after baggage and transfers. A 40-minute flight is not automatically the best-value purchase, particularly when airport transport is added at both ends. Check both directions for the exact travel dates rather than relying on a fixed fare range.
Cebgo’s cabin allowance remains 7 kg combined for one overhead-bin item and one personal item. The overhead-bag limit is 56 × 36 × 23 cm; the personal-item limit is 20 × 20 × 35 cm. The increased 10 kg allowance for Cebu Pacific 5J flights does not apply to DG flights. Check purchased checked-baggage allowances before arriving at the small airport.
Fast ferry or slow boat: which to choose
For a direct transfer, compare the actual vessel, journey time and departure offered for your date. “Tourist ferry”, “fast ferry” and “slow boat” are not interchangeable promises about comfort or speed. Bookaway’s route comparison spans approximately 3½–5 hours, while Atienza advertises a four-hour service.
A slower tourist boat is worth considering only when its departure, arrival time and full fare have been confirmed. Ask about seating, ventilation or air conditioning, toilets, luggage handling and the weather policy. Do not assume a slower service will be cheaper or more comfortable on rough water.
An expedition is a separate holiday experience. Buhay Isla publishes El Nido–Coron and Coron–El Nido expeditions for November 2026. Its September 2026–July 2027 programme quotes PHP 22,900 per person for three days/two nights and PHP 26,900 for four days/three nights, with all fees included as described by the operator. Check your chosen date and inclusions; these trips stop at islands and include overnight stays rather than delivering a same-day transfer.
Fees, check-in and luggage
Carry identification matching the ticket, your booking confirmation and cash. Follow the check-in time on the voucher and obtain any required boarding ticket before joining the queue. Atienza’s route pages ask all passengers to arrive two hours early; its general FAQ asks passengers with cargo or checked baggage to check in four hours before departure, so confirm which requirement applies to your booking.
Ask the ferry company for the included luggage allowance and the price for excess or bulky items before paying. Keep documents, electronics, medication and a change of clothes in a small waterproof day bag you can reach during the crossing.
In Coron, the official LGU iPASS system covers tourist registration and Environmental Tourism Development Fee payment. Its instructions direct arriving visitors to present their QR code at the verification counter at Coron Port or Busuanga Airport. Keep the confirmation available offline.
El Nido has a separate Eco-Tourism Development Fee. The ETDF Management Board’s official bulletin sets PHP 400 for visitors from outside Palawan and PHP 200 for visitors within Palawan, with different student rates and an exemption for bona fide El Nido residents. Confirm your visitor category with the collection office; a ferry journey from Coron should not by itself be treated as proof of eligibility for a reduced rate.
The ETDF is separate from the transport ticket. Confirm whether any terminal or other charge is included in your booking, and retain receipts for fees paid separately.
Weather, cancellations and seasickness
The dry season does not guarantee a calm crossing. PAGASA identifies December–February with the northeast monsoon, amihan. Strong winds can affect a sea journey even on a sunny day; rain alone is not the only warning sign.
PAGASA places the peak typhoon season in July–October. Check marine warnings and the operator’s sailing notice close to departure, and follow any Coast Guard suspension. A ticket is not permission to sail when the authorities stop vessel movements.
Allow a spare day before an important onward flight. If a crossing is cancelled, ask the seller about rebooking or refunds and contact your accommodation before the check-in deadline. Avoid treating an expedition or a smaller private boat as an automatic workaround for a weather suspension.
For motion sickness, keep looking toward the horizon, choose a seat near the vessel’s centre when available and avoid reading if it worsens symptoms. Ask a pharmacist about a suitable remedy before boarding, especially for children or anyone taking other medication.

Arriving in Coron / arriving in El Nido
Coron by ferry: arrange the final ride from Coron Port to the hotel or confirm the pickup with your accommodation. An outlying resort can require an additional road or boat transfer.
Coron by air: allow approximately 45–60 minutes from Busuanga Airport to Coron Town. Hop Hostel quotes PHP 250 per person for a shared van and PHP 2,500 for a private van. Confirm the exact hotel drop-off and pickup arrangements. The Manila to Coron guide covers arrival planning before this onward journey.
El Nido by ferry: check whether your hotel is in El Nido Town, Corong-Corong or farther away, and arrange the final ride accordingly. The ferry port should not be confused with the road-transport terminal used by buses and vans.
El Nido by air: Lio is outside the town centre. Cauayan Resort’s arrival instructions allow a 20-minute van ride from Lio Airport to El Nido Port; your own hotel may require a different drop-off. Confirm the transfer price and whether it is included. See how to get to El Nido for connections from elsewhere.
Save tickets, hotel addresses and pickup messages offline before leaving town. The best eSIM for the Philippines guide explains mobile-data choices for the trip.
Where to stay
Coron Town is convenient for restaurants, transport and organising island trips. Remote resorts can be quieter, but confirm their transfer arrangements before choosing a ferry or flight.

El Nido Town is practical for a short stay and transport connections. Check the exact hotel address before booking: a beachfront property outside town can need a longer transfer than a central guesthouse.

FAQ
How long is the ferry from El Nido to Coron?
Allow around 3½–5 hours at sea, depending on the service and conditions. Atienza advertises four hours in each direction, but boarding, delays and the final hotel transfer add to the total journey.
How much does the El Nido to Coron ferry cost?
Atienza advertises PHP 2,600 each way for MV November Cattleya. Confirm that the vessel is operating on your date and check the complete ticket price, baggage and any separate charges before paying.
Is a fast ferry or a slow boat better?
A confirmed passenger-ferry departure is the practical starting point for a same-day transfer. Compare a slower tourist boat only after checking its vessel, journey time, facilities and availability; a multi-day expedition is a different purchase.
Is there an El Nido to Coron flight?
Yes, the route links El Nido’s ENI airport with Busuanga’s USU airport, serving Coron. Former AirSWIFT services are operated by Cebgo from July 1, 2026; allow about 40 minutes flying plus airport procedures and road transfers.
Do ferries run every day or in bad weather?
Do not assume a daily sailing, even when an operator’s usual timetable uses that description. Confirm your travel date directly, and expect a cancellation or delay when the operator or Coast Guard stops a crossing because of sea conditions.
